Every role contributes to that journey. Some volunteers provide hands-on care and enrichment. Others welcome visitors, support adoptions, maintain our facility, assist with events, or contribute valuable professional skills. Each person helps create the clean, calm, and compassionate environment our animals deserve.
You do not need years of animal-care experience to make a difference. You need a willingness to learn, a commitment to serve, and the reliability to be there when animals and people are counting on you. We provide the guidance and training needed to help volunteers serve safely, confidently, and effectively.
When you volunteer with ESHS, you are not simply helping for a day. You are helping change what comes next.
Help provide dogs with clean living spaces, fresh food and water, exercise, enrichment, socialization, and the consistent human interaction they need to thrive.
Support the daily care and comfort of our cats through feeding, cleaning, enrichment, socialization, and gentle attention tailored to each cat’s personality.
Assist with the specialized daily needs of birds, reptiles, and other exotic animals. Placement in these areas may require additional training or demonstrated experience.
Help animals meet the people who may become their families. Volunteers may welcome visitors, answer basic questions, assist with introductions, and support adoption events.
A clean facility is essential to animal health and public confidence. Help maintain comfortable animal areas and a safe, welcoming environment for visitors, volunteers, and staff.
Put practical skills to work through landscaping, exterior upkeep, minor maintenance, organization, and other projects that keep our facility looking and functioning at its best.
Represent ESHS at adoption events, educational programs, donation drives, and community activities while helping us build stronger connections throughout Northwest Florida.
Contribute behind the scenes through data entry, communications, photography, fundraising, technology, design, or another professional skill that can strengthen our work.
