The Emerald Shores Humane Society is dedicated to preserving and protecting the incredible domestic animals in the Northwest Florida area. We’re passionate about providing a safe, healthy environment for domestic animals big and small.
Animal Care and Sanctuary
Many animals in our care came to us as victims of animal neglect or cruelty. These animals stay in our care until after the trial and/or appeals process. Others are surrendered by owners who can no longer provide the minimal standards of nutrition, sanitation, and veterinary care. These animals will stay in the sanctuary until their adoption or passing.
Adoption and Fostering Services
The humane society is always looking for responsible and knowledgable people that are well-positioned to take on and care for a pet of their own. This can be in the form of temporary fostering or a permanent adoption.
Animal Cruelty Investigations
The Emerald Shores Humane Society is proud to have a veteran animal cruelty investigator that possess more than a decade of experience in investigating incidents involving crimes against animals.
Stephanie Eddins has investigated and helped prosecute some of the most high-profile cruelty investigations in the State of Florida. She is a documented expert witness in animal cruelty, cockfighting, and dogfighting, and was the first and only civilian investigator in Escambia County, Florida to be awarded a Medal of Commendation by a sitting sheriff.
On September 19, 2024, the First Judicial Circuit Court expanded Stephanie’s jurisdiction from a single county to the entire first judicial circuit. This includes the Florida counties of Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton.
Stephanie works close with the Pensacola Police Department, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, and other state and federal agencies.
If you need to report an incident involving possible animal cruelty or neglect, please call law enforcement first and not the Emerald Shores Humane Society. We only respond to requests made by law enforcement.
