About Us
The Emerald Shores Humane Society, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, provides shelter for homeless and at risk animals, adoptions, veterinary care, and home euthanasia services for the general public. We are one of the few humane societies in the area that are equipped to provide shelter for avian, reptile, and other exotic mammals.
Animal Cruelty Investigations
With more than a decade of experience in investigating and assisting in the prosecution of crimes against animals, our investigation team shines when it comes to animal cruelty investigations. In September of 2024, the First Judicial Circuit Court of the State of Florida expanded our jurisdiction to include all counties of the First Judicial Circuit. These counties are Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton and serve approximately 900,000 citizens.

Our Vision
Our vision is a community where citizens respect and properly care for the animals they keep as pets, a community where domestic animals live full, happy lives, and a community that is educated when it comes to best practices in animal husbandry.
Our Mission
The Emerald Shores Humane Society will provide a safe haven for victims of animal cruelty and neglect while they await justice, provide expert investigation of violations of any Florida law for the purpose of protecting animals and preventing acts of cruelty thereto, and providing humane education and specialized resources for the community and local animal rescues. Through this mission, we will realize our vision.
Our Funding
The Emerald Shores Humane Society receives no public funds and is 100% funded by private citizens. Additionally, our staff is completely voluntary. The result is 100% of the money coming into the humane society goes towards benefiting the animals.
